If you live near a large uninhabited, swampy or heavily forested area, anywhere in the world, there are always stories going back to our earliest memories, of large unknown creatures. With the proliferation of cameras and video capabilities on mobile devices everywhere, there seems to be more and more sightings of large, human-like things. These creatures are reported to be heavily muscled, covered in fur or long hair, and have human or ape-like features. They are said to be solitary and very difficult to spot in the wild.  However, it is said that you can smell them when they are in the area.

In our neighborhood, there are nights when all living creatures go still.  Not a sound is heard. It is quite eerie when this happens as a river bank and swamp is normally a very noisy place at night with insects, frogs, birds, and other creatures creating a symphony of noise and sounds that can be almost deafening.  The night turns still and all of the night creatures like frogs, raccoons, opossums, deer and pigs, all seem to disappear. The air is then filled with a smell that can only be described as a wet dog that has been sprayed by a skunk.  On these nights we have gone out and taking a large stick knocked on the trees near the river.  On more than a few occasions we heard knocks in response coming from across the river in the Wildlife Management Area where there are no houses or people.   After an hour or so, the smell goes away and the insects and frogs start singing once again. Soon the raccoons, opossums and pigs are back out and feeding.

On one cool night, when the river was very low, so low you could easily walk across it, and the night grew still, we knocked on a tree.  Almost immediately, we heard a knock across the river.  Then a second knock on the island across our creek directly adjacent to us.  And right away a third knock in the woods right beside our house where the pigs normally travel.  Three single knocks at the same time in three separate places hundreds of yards apart.  No chance it was a tree branch cracking or a raccoon in a palm tree.  There were no humans anywhere near.  It was a bit unnerving, but also exciting.

A few weeks later, while we were away visiting family, we noticed on review of our security camera footage that a visitor came and destroyed one of our new feeders.  This creature was large, with its head towering over the feeder top.  The feeder top is over 7 feet tall and can only be accessed by us with a ladder. The creature also grabbed the steel legs and bent them as if they were soft aluminum.  When we returned a few days later, the damage to the feeder was extensive with many of the metal parts twisted and bent. When we tried to repair or unbend the legs, we found the steel was too thick and too strong for a human to bend.

We are not going to say what we think the creature is, but instead leave it up to you to decide by watching the standard grainy partial video snippet.  Note the stance, the huge upper body, the long muscular arms and the bald head and face.

It certainly makes one think.
